How to Improve Air Conditioner Efficiency

May 25th, 2015

It is best when you reduce your unit’s energy consumption: it helps your wallet, your carbon footprint, and essentially the planet. By taking these steps you are preventing the need to replace your AC unit, due to neglect.

  1. Check the controls: Make sure that the AC unit starts, operates and then shuts off properly.
  2. Check settings: Turn the AC down when you leave. Turn off the AC when you leave and restart right before you get home.
  3. Check Drain: A plugged drain can cause water damage.
  4. Tighten all connections: Bad electrical connections are unsafe and can damage your appliance.
  5. Change Air Filters once a month: A dirty filter decreases efficiency and reduces the life of your air-conditioner.
